Another Cheesy Family Newsletter

SKU 150 Category:

For decades, Elizabeth Silva has crafted an annual holiday newsletter to family and friends, summarizing her family’s year in light-hearted, witty prose. Little do her readers know, however, of the conflict and pain behind those season’s greetings full of optimism and cheer.Another Cheesy Family Newsletter is a memoir covering a span of twenty years in Elizabeth Silva’s life, the years her oldest child struggled with mental illness and substance abuse. Contrasting each chirpy letter is a narrative of the true, sometimes dark, events that really happened each year. Those stories, along with the backstories that impacted Elizabeth in later years, present a picture of four generations of a family’s missteps and triumphs as they navigate the storms caused by addiction, codependence, and mental illness.

Elizabeth Silva

Elizabeth Silva began her professional writing career late in life, AFTER her official retirement. She grew up in a military family, living in seven states before settling in Texas at age 17. She attended college as an English major, where she developed her love of writing. While working as a high school English teacher and guidance counselor, she and her husband raised four children, now adults. They currently live in North Texas with their two grandsons, a dog, and two cats. Elizabeth is a community contributor to the Dallas Morning News (under the name Patty Sisco), and is presently collaborating with her granddaughter on a children's book. She is an advocate for public education, mental health, autism, and grandparents raising grandchildren.
