“Lifted by Wind is my Survival. Every poem is breath and every breath is wind.”

Lifted by Wind is a poetry collection of breath, witness, survival, and becoming. These poems gather memory, migration, family, faith, illness, nature, and healing into a lyrical journey from Guyana to America, from storm to restoration, and from silence to voice.

Written by Guyanese-born U.S. Army veteran Ann Marie Tinnie, this collection moves through roots, sunlight, gardens, wind, grief, resilience, and ancestral legacy. With poems shaped by lived experience, the book offers a deeply personal and spiritual reflection on identity, womanhood, motherhood, service, and the enduring power of transformation.

From botanical gardens and Florida sanctuary spaces to the emotional weather of trauma, migration, and memory, these poems trace a life being continually remade. Readers who value lyrical poetry about healing, diaspora, and spiritual growth will find a collection that is intimate, reflective, and rooted in lived truth.
