One Last Wish by Nicole Belanger (2015-10-05)

SKU 334 Category:

Time is never on our side. It’s always selfishly working against us. When Sarah went missing, time slipped by with the blink of an eye, and the faster it passed, the faster I lost hope. Hope that she’d still be alive. Hope that she would come home safely. And it wasn’t until Officer Reed Parker knocked on my door that I thought it was finally over. But it’ll never be over. They found her body. She’s dead. But who took her? Who killed her? Was it the same set of eyes that stalked me in the night, lurking behind corners, between cars, and waiting? For what? To take me, next? When the people I love most start slipping away from me, fingers start pointing in different directions and I wonder who I can truly trust. That’s the thing about time, it’s infinite, but eventually you run out of it.

Nicole Belanger

Nicole has been writing since she was six years old. It's always been a passion for her, and she began with writing short stories. Her first story, called The Cat That Leaves Fish Alone, was written when she was seven. When Nicole was twelve, she had to write a research paper. Unsure what to write, Nicole pulled a topic out of a hat: Domestic Violence. It seems like a heavy topic to write about in sixth grade, but nonetheless, she researched it and wrote the paper. She had a lot of information left over, and always wanted to do something bigger with her writing, so she decided to write a book. When she was thirteen, she began Lost Voice. It wasn't easy, and when she was fifteen, after countless computer crashes, finally finished it. Nicole didn't plan to do anything with the book, she wasn't sure if she even wanted to share it with friends, but when she was sixteen, a teacher caught sight of chapter one and encouraged her to pursue publication. During Nicole's senior year of high school, she took a creative writing class and allowed that teacher to read the first few chapters as well. She encouraged Nicole to publish, also. A few months before graduating, at age 17, Lost Voice (2012) was published. Nicole chose self-publishing because she wanted to have complete control over her writing. She feels if she went a traditional route, her stories would no longer be hers. Since then, Nicole has published two additional books, Shadows (2014) and One Last Wish (2015).
