This is an originally Arabic novel, experimental in its place and time, which recounts the ordeal of an Egyptian promising artist, during one day in his life in Cairo, Egypt. It draws, thus, on Joycean lines and techniques. Its plot takes place with lots of flashbacks, in around the year 1968, after the war of 1967 between Egypt and Israel. The author is Maher Battuti, a founding member of the Egyptian Writers Union in 1975. He published 27 books in Arabic, authored and translated. He works with Arabic, English, Spanish and French. He worked as translator and editor at The United Nations Secretariat from 1978 to 2001, when he retired. He was naturalized as an American citizen in 2007. He lives with his family in New York.
