Southwest Philadelphia in the 1940s and 50s was a difficult place to live. The author, Harvey Pitts, grew up in one-room tenements and cockroach-infested apartments with his mother and two brothers, moving from on to another in an attempt to stay one step ahead of his alcoholic father. Mr. Pitts shares his many experiences throughout the years along with the joys, sorrows, and laughter his blessed life has brought him.
